LAN

LAN: Local Area Network.

LDDL

LDDL: Local Density to Display LUT

LO

LO: Abbreviation for a Value Representation: Long String. For details see here.

LP

LP: Abbreviation for a type of modality: Laparoscopy.

LS

LS: Abbreviation for a type of modality: Laser Surface Scan.

LT

LT: Abbreviation for a Value Representation: Long Text. For details see here.

LUT

LUT: Look Up Table, specifying mapping from specific values such as pixel values into luminance.
A matrix that maps image values from one context into another.

Little Endian

Little Endian: An encoding method by which the Least significant Byte is stored in the high order bits of a 16 bit word. This is how Intel based CPUs store data. Exchanged as part of the transfer syntax during negotiation. Conversion to Big Endian would require swapping each byte within the words.
