A was No. 2 of the fifteen ballads in William Tytler's lost Brown Manuscript The story of 'Willie o Winsbury' (No. 100) has considerable resemblance to that of 'Johnie Scot.' There is also some resemblance to 'Child Maurice' (No. 83).
