This ballad probably occurs in all the large collections of broadsides. It was made for print and has little of the traditional in the matter and nothing 1 in the style. It may be considered as an imitation of the Rescue of the Three Squires (No, 140), whence the ambush in st. 9 and the palmer 'fair' in 10.
