Effect on $X and $Y

Draft MDC Standard

1.1 Control-functions with an effect on $X or $Y or both

Below follows a list of control-functions (X3.64) or controlmnemonics (M[UMPS]) that have an effect on the special variables $X or $Y or both. Since some definitions in X3.64 are fairly open-ended, the exact effect may be implementation dependent in some cases. In section 3.4 these open-ended definitions are listed resolution of possible ambiguities are stated.

The relevant controlmnemonics are:

    /CBT(n)$X
/CHA(x)$X
/CHT(n)$X
/CNL(n)$X, $Y
/CPL(n)$X, $Y
/CUB(n)$X
/CUD(n)$Y
/CUF(n)$X
/CUP(y,x)$X, $Y
/CUU(n)$Y
/CVT(n)$Y
/HPA(x)$X
/HPR(n)$X
/HTJ$X
/HVP(y,x)$X, $Y
/IND$Y
/NEL$X, $Y
/PLD$Y
/PLU$Y
/REP(n)$X, $Y
/RI$Y
/RIS$X=0, $Y=0
/VPA(y)$Y
/VPR(n)$Y

The control-function REP repeats the previous character or function as many times as indicated by its argument. Hence, the side-effects of this function do not depend on this function itself, but rather on the character or function that is being repeated.
