1.3 Application

Developed primarily for connection of different implementations of the M[UMPS] language, the protocol may also be used by other languages to gain access to an M[UMPS] database or to provide an M[UMPS] database service.

OMI may also be used for inter-task operations on a single computer, for example between 2 different products.
